Car Shopping – Before You Go In

Car shopping is just one of those things in life that one just shouldn’t do by their self.

By this I mean without being armed with facts, figures, and approval letters.

Especially in today’s connected world, there is absolutely no reason to be out car shopping or car buying without all of your pertinent pieces to the car buying puzzle in tow with you.

I don’t care how you keep it organized to take with you... just do so. Take your information with you! Do not rely on memory and recall.

We’ve talked at length throughout the website about what type of homework you need to get done and what pieces of the car buying puzzle you need to have locked down before you venture out, but a quick reminder won’t hurt one bit. In fact, print this page out if it will help you remember to get everything you need.

First of all, before anything else, don’t pass go, don’t contact any car dealer or automotive sales person, don’t proceed anywhere until you determine your financing pieces to the car buying puzzle.

This is includes getting your credit report, and knowing your score. Then arranging for or knowing how much of a loan you qualify for and for what rate you’ll be paying this money back. Today with online loan approval you can apply for and get your money within the next day.

Again:

Get your Credit report and know your score.

Get your loan information secured or at least quoted and an approval letter.

Get a few quotes on the make and model and options of the new car you are going to buy.

Don’t forget to get an automobile insurance quote from your agent. In fact, while your at it go ahead and get a couple of comparative quotes online.

If you are considering an extended warranty for your new car, be sure to get a quote or two on extended warranties. Be sure to compare apples to apples when doing this. Length of coverage, what is covered, what is not covered, deductibles, etc.

Use this checklist to get this information, quotes, and approval correspondence tucked away in your information folder or somewhere you can easily take it with you for quick and easy access when you are actually ready to set foot on a car dealership and begin the car buying process.

Don't go out without this information folks, it's invaluable to have at your fingertips.

Hope this is helpful and saves you some time and effort during your car shopping.

  • Instant online access to your credit report.
  • Checking your own credit report does not affect your credit score.
